Laminate Flooring...Tools You Need To Install

Basic Tools for Installing It Yourself

Installing floating or glueless laminate flooring is much easier than the traditional method and is a lot quicker as well.  On average it takes 50% less time for a person to install this kind of flooring compared to that which needs to be installed using traditional methods.

But as with any home improvement job you still need the right equipment to ensure that you do the job correctly.  In this article we will take a look at laminate flooring tools and the way to install a floating or glue less laminate floor.

The tools that you will need to install your new laminate flooring are as follows:-

1. Measuring Tape. You will need to measure the room in order to ensure that you have purchased enough boards to complete the job.  You do not want to be half way through the installation process only to find you need to go to the store and get some more laminate flooring.

2. Pencil. This is so that you can mark the laminate for when you need to make it shorter so it fits exactly into the space available.

3. Marker. Another way of marking the laminate to show where it needs to be cut.

4. Set (Speed) Square. This is to test the angles. You may think that all the corners of your room are right angles, but this may not be the case and you could end up with a big gap between the end of the laminate flooring and your walls.

5. Scissors. To cut open the packets, because a lot of them will be bound as well with plastic strips to ensure that when transported they do not move about and get damaged.

6. Hammer For use to help tapping each of the boards against one another so that they fit snug and secure and no gaps are left where moisture could get into them.

7. Coping and Circular Saw. You need to have a circular saw that has a fine tooth blade.  These are for use to cut down the boards to shorter lengths when required.  Remember that no room is going to be the exact length of 3 boards of laminate flooring so you will need to cut them to shorter lengths in order for them to fit snugly in to the space being covered.

8. Goggles. A must for safety reasons.  They will protect your eyes from the sawdust and any small splinters of wood as you are working.

All the above are essential laminate flooring tools and if you want to carry out the job of installation with the minimum of fuss and in the quickest time possible, then you should ensure that you invest in these before you actually start the work.
