Vinyl Plank Flooring Makes An Entrance

The Look of Wood Planks Without the High Price Tag

The Tarkett company has come up with a new and revolutionary-looking type of flooring for the home.  This company which has been established for more than 100 years has produced a vinyl plank flooring which attempts to look and feel like hand-scraped plank flooring.

The great thing about this kind of vinyl flooring is that it does not come with all the problems that are associated with real wood flooring.  Certainly when it actually comes to installing this kind of flooring it is pretty simple to do.  Home improvement fanatics will not have to worry about the mess and hassle that comes with laying any kind of wooden or bamboo flooring.

Lower Cost

Another advantage of buying vinyl plank flooring rather than real hand-scraped plank floors is the cost.  In most cases the price of this vinyl plank flooring compared to more traditional wooden floors is likely to be around 2/3 the price or even less.

The vinyl plank flooring produced by Tarkett is called Nafco and it comes in four styles:  Mocha, Brandy, Barley and Sierra. It is available in a range of different colors, from the rich oak color of Sierra to the deeper lush color of the style known as Mocha.

Although this particular kind of flooring does not have the same depth of feel and texture that a real wood floor such as hardwood flooring or bamboo flooring has, it still looks good.  But you have to remember that this is only vinyl and the thickness of this product is normally only around 1/8 inch.

Rolled Edge

This particular product comes with a rolled edge treatment that is supposed to make it look like the edges of wooden planks.  But there is very little information available other than a bit in relation to the European patent that they have on the treatment which can be found online.

It is important to remember that Tarkett's vinyl plank flooring is just that: vinyl flooring. It will have the same feel when walked on barefoot as any other kind of vinyl flooring.   But if you are looking to provide a room with that plank flooring effect at a fraction of the cost of installing real wood plank flooring, then certainly this kind of vinyl planks may be a wise investment for you.
